USING MAGNETIC BACTERIA TO CONSTRUCT THE BIOCOMPUTER OF THE FUTURE
Magnetic Bacteria (pink dotted line magnetic strip) |
I think this is a good idea because it will lower the cost of computer manufacturing, by using this Magnetic Bacteria. The products Magnetic Bacteria are all natural, coming from earth. Researchers are now growing tiny magnets that can serve as components in the minuscule hard drives in the future. This Magnetic Bacteria could even help with human surgery or even live permanently inside the human body.

Current Events (Watch the Planets Line Up With Crescent Moon in Rare Conjunction)
Two plants, Jupiter and Venus are visible in the sky next to the crescent moon. On the date of March 25th and 26th, 2012 the planets were recently seen. They are seen in the night sky lined up, next to the crescent moon. And since Venus is so bright, in the day a few degrees above the sun toward the west. This happens because the planets are lined up at the right time, right place next to the crescent moon which makes them visible.
Seeing the planets in the sky next to the moon was an amazing picture. It was son cool and wish it lasted longer. This is a very rare thing that happens. its only once in awhile that you see planets from earth. On the 25th of March, me and my mom were looking at the sky and we saw theses bright dots next to and lined up with he moon. My mom knew they were planets but not sure which ones, I was curious. So, I looked it up and read that it was Venus and Jupiter. I learned something new and appreciate that Abraham Lincon saw this and made it clear, that it was planets. It was very pretty and I think every one should try and look at this beautiful sky. The bright beauty in the night and day time sky.

The Atom Song
So here we are, doin what we do rappin the atom song. Pay attention like in class, cause what we say is not wrong. The nucleus is made by the protons and neutrons, then surrounding that comes the valuable electrons. We made Bohr diagrams to help us learn the PTE. And we know all the facts cause of the SBSD.
What's good blue class, don't worry I wont go fast. Every thing is made of atoms whether its food or glass. We learn from making models, like a penguin we waddle. When you combine protons and neutrons you get the mass number. Everything has it even a cucumber. I forgot to mention it has an atomic number. WORD!!!!!!!!!

Chemical and Physical Changes (Matter)
Last week we worked on four labs that showed us chemical and physical changes. The first two were candles, the third was roasting marshmallows, and the last was burning sugar they all showed both chemical and physical changes.
This is physical change: This is a chemical change:
The next lab was burning marshmallows . We had to taste marshmallows that were not burned and then taste burned ones. Before it was burned it was white and fluffy after burned black and charcoal. This was a physical change the appearance was changed. This was also a chemical change because it was burned. Before being burned the marshmallow was sweet and sticky after being burned gooey and tasted like char coled burntness. This lab was easy to relate to real life because I love making s'mores.
This is physical change: This is a chemical change:
The small blue candle was the one we did first. We had to watch it burn down and melt. It was chemically changing because it was burning it was physically changing because it was getting smaller. The second candle we did was a big white one we mixed 2 substances together and held it up to the candle flam without letting the substance fall onto the flam. The flam instantly blew out and we repeated this proses again we got the same result the candle instantly blew out. Like the little candle when the candle was burning it was chemical when not lit physical. When we mixed the two substances it was chemical candle because the chemical make up was changed. When something burns it is always chemical change.

burnt sugar |
Lastly, we had on a sugar lab in where we burnt sugar. We put two sugar cubes in a test tube and held them over the Bunsen burner. The sugar was boiling and caramelizing. The sugar was at about 300 degrees, and yellow smoke started puffing out of the top of the test tube. I thought it was going to blow up but fortunately it didn't. We put the test tube on the table and smashed it with a hammer. The sugar was chemically changed it was blackened and stuck to the sides of the test tube. This lab was fun but i learned a lesson from it when working with sugar just a little burnt could make it taste horrible and not be able to do what i want to.
All four of these labs tought be about chemical and physical changes. I will apply what i learned to real life now. These are all in different states of matter. These labs were fun and educational, i hope in the future we do more labs that are this much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Separating Mixtures Procedure
Step 1: With fingers remove toothpicks, beans, and plastic spider.
Step 2: Fold filter in fourths and put it in beaker, pour the water mixture into the beaker.
Step 3: Take filter out of beaker, put it to the side.
Step 4: Put magnet over cup to remove iron shavings so only sand is left in cup.
Step 5: Plug in heater and place the beaker on it with just the water mixture inside.
Step 6: When the water completely evaporates take the beaker off the heater. (Remove with beaker tongs)
Step 7: Wait until it cools and then look inside the beaker and try to figure out what is left.
Step 8: Secret ingredient is salt.
Step 9: Make sure all step are recorded so you can tell others.
Step 10: Clean up.
